Overview
AIDO Cell is a general-purpose simulator for cell biology from GenBio AI — a "virtual cell" that predicts how a cell changes in response to experiments and how those changes appear across different measurements.
Unlike ML models that handle a single assay or task, it's built on a world model: it holds a persistent cellular state you can perturb, redirect, and read out on demand, so multi-step experiments unfold continuously rather than as batches of isolated predictions.
A world-model harness tracks cell state across scales and turns user commands into engine operations, giving an interface where experiments can be programmed, observed, replayed, and debugged.
It delivers coherent multimodal readouts (chromatin, expression, protein structure, localization, morphology, and more) from one shared state, multiscale simulation from DNA up to whole-cell phenotype, and continuous multi-turn experimentation including cloning cells to branch trajectories.
On the Virtual Cell Benchmark 1.0 it's the only system spanning all five task families and reaches state of the art on 24 of 31 metrics. Version 1.0 prototypes two well-characterized human cell lines (K-562 and Hep-G2) and supports "in-context molecular design" — specifying a desired cell phenotype and generating candidate molecules to reach it.
A companion system, AIDO Foundry, adapts the engine to new cell types and modalities, with AIDO Lab as the researcher interface. Currently in alpha with an early-access waitlist for academic, biotech, and pharma researchers.
