Overview
From concept through production draft, First Read evaluates the work against that writer's own standards rather than a generic idea of good, and pushes back on choices that read as vague or safe. It supports outlines, beat sheets, episode maps and scripts across traditional television, film and vertical drama.
Where First Read generates, it generates against the writer's own profile rather than a corpus of somebody else's work. It also signs every completed document at save with an Ed25519 signature, over a record of which voice profile the document was made against and a fingerprint showing the content is unaltered since. The public key is mirrored outside First Read's own infrastructure, so a studio, a guild or an opposing party can verify a record without asking the company for anything.
Nothing you upload trains any AI model. Built by a television writer with fifteen years of credits.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Voice capture is a structured 30-minute interview rather than inference from a corpus of your old work
- Evaluates a draft against your own stated standards instead of a generic idea of good
- Every saved document is cryptographically signed, and the signature is verifiable without the company
- Built for screen formats specifically, including vertical drama alongside traditional TV and film
- Nothing you upload is used to train any AI model
- Built by a working television writer with fifteen years of credits
Cons
- There is no instant-value path. The 30-minute interview comes first and the product is not useful before it
- The signature establishes which voice profile a document was made against and that neither has changed since. It does not prove who typed the words
- Built for professional screenwriters. General-purpose prose and marketing writers are not the audience
- Small and new. There is no large support organisation behind it
- At $20.99/month it is priced above hobbyist writing tools

FAQ 7
Does it write for me, or just give notes?

It generates. It leads with evaluation and it starts from voice capture, and where it generates it generates against your own profile rather than a corpus of other people's work. Any tool claiming it does not generate at all is being loose with the word.
How long does setup take?

Roughly thirty minutes for the voice interview. That is the whole onboarding, and the profile gets sharper the more you use the product.
What does the signature actually prove?

It establishes which voice profile a document was made against, and that neither the profile nor the document has changed since it was saved. It does not prove who typed the words, and the record says so.
Can a studio or a guild check a record without going through you?

Yes. The public key is published in a DNS TXT record and mirrored in a public GitHub repository, and the verification method is standard Ed25519. Nothing about checking a record requires our cooperation.
Do you train models on my scripts?

No. Nothing you upload trains any AI model.
What formats does it support?

Traditional television, film, and vertical drama, from concept through production draft — outlines, beat sheets, episode maps and scripts.
Is this a replacement for WGA registration?

No. It is a complement to it. Registration gives you a dated record of your claim; this gives you a per-save record of what the work was made against.
