What is Tranquil Expanse?
Tranquil Expanse is a free online journal platform focused on mindfulness and radical acceptance. How to use Tranquil Expanse?
Users can start journaling without an account, with entries saved to the browser's local storage. Creating an account allows saving entries to the cloud for access from any device. The platform offers prompt generators, text formatting, goal setting, and AI-driven insights (using Spark Tokens).
How are my journal entries saving without an account?
If you're not logged into an account, your journal entries are saved to your browser's local storage. This means that your entries are only saved on the device you're using. If you clear your browser's cache, your entries will be deleted. If you log into an account, you'll be able to save specific entries to our database and will be accessible from any device.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account by logging in and selecting 'Manage account' from the dropdown menu shown which clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner. From there, you can select 'Delete account' and follow the prompts to delete your account.
Are there any limits to how many online journal entries I can write?
Nope! You're welcome to write as many journal entries as you desire. However, it's important to remember that misuse of this feature, such as storing large amounts of content for purposes not intended, could lead to the deletion of your account and all associated content.
Will there be a mobile app?
Not at this time. We're focusing on the web app for now and providing the best experience possible for mobile and desktop devices. If you want a truer mobile app experience, you can add Tranquil Expanse to your home screen on your mobile device as a Progressive Web App (PWA).
Will there ever be a subscription service of Tranquil Expanse?
The goal is to keep any features that are currently free, free. However, there may be additional features added in the future that will require a paid subscription to access. In the meantime, we're focusing on providing the best experience possible for free users and exploring the use of Spark Tokens (for AI use) as a means to pay for the AI service as well as help to support the site in general.
I locked an entry and forgot the password. What do I do?
Regrettably, we cannot retrieve a forgotten password for a locked entry. The password is utilized for encryption before saving the entry, which is then encrypted again on our server. We do not store these passwords anywhere.
Spark Tokens? AI? What's that about?
Spark Tokens are a virtual currency within Tranquil Expanse used to "pay" for AI services. You can use these tokens to get insights from our AI to help generate ideas for journaling, as well as to gain a new perspective on your journal entries. New users receive 25 free tokens to try out these features, but you can find the means to purchase more through your user menu in the navbar!
Do Spark Tokens expire?
No, Spark Tokens do not expire. They will remain in your account until you use them, go at your own pace (don't be surprised if 1,000 Spark Tokens last you several months)!
Is this an online diary or a journal?
Technically, it's a journal. Diaries are typically used to record events and experiences, while journals are used to reflect on thoughts and feelings. However, the terms are often used interchangeably. You're welcome to use Tranquil Expanse as a diary, a journal, or a combination of both!
